The British Council will offer a prize of up to £2,500 to the winner of each of the main categories in Greece for a professional development opportunity of their choice.
Speaking at the ceremony, the British Ambassador HE Matthew Lodge said: ‘Education has always served as a bridge between Greece and the UK. Academic excellence, open horizons, mutual understanding and exchange, and career opportunities are the main reasons that thousands of Greek students choose to study at British higher education institutions. Over time Greek students have contributed to scientific research, prosperity and progress, in both the UK and Greece, as well as wherever else their paths have led them. These bonds are extremely important and we intend to continue cultivating them.’
Maria Tsakali, Head Education, British Council Greece, said: ‘Now in their fifth year in Greece, the Study UK Alumni Awards increasingly attract even more Greek UK alumni who excel in their professional fields. Their stories and successes are a testament to the impact of their UK education in becoming champions and leaders in their chosen professions and a true inspiration for the next generation. The finalists and winners in Greece reconnect with the UK through the awards, proudly represent the Greek UK alumni community in the global UK alumni network and contribute to the strong educational and interpersonal ties between Greece and the UK.’
