Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Head of Mission James Bryce said‘UK education continues to inspire generations of young people – both for its excellence and its social contribution. UK University graduates create their own successful career path globally in many different areas; some have won Nobel prizes, Oscars, Olympic medals, and have become leaders in politics, business and other spheres of life. Many others contribute daily in their expertise and communities with the knowledge and experience gained from time spent in the UK and the ties they forged then. Just as we take pride in the achievements of past generations, in the Awards today we aim to celebrate the Greek UK Alumni of the present and the future for what they have done so far and for all the promise they represent.’

Tony Buckby, Director of British Council Greece, said: ‘The remarkable individuals we celebrated today at the Study UK Alumni Awards in Greece have all taken their UK education as a starting point to excel in their chosen careers and shape the world around them. This year’s awards ceremony is testimony not only to the diversity of UK alumni and their endeavours, but also to the transformative impact of a UK education. With more than 300,000 alumni of a UK education in Greece, there is much to celebrate.’

Spiros Soulis, Alumni Awards 2018 Ambassador Greece, said: ‘Studying in the UK offered me everything that I had expected to gain and more! It’s a great pleasure and an honour for me to be the Ambassador for the Study UK Alumni Awards in Greece again this year and to support this exciting British Council initiative.’
