Don’t miss the lecture we're organising in collaboration with the Lambrakis Foundation and the Onassis Cultural Centre entitled Fostering Peace: Bridging the Gap between the West and the Muslim World by leading anthropologist and scholar of Islamic Studies, Ambassador Akbar Ahmed.

The lecture is taking place in the framework of the British Council programme Our Shared Future, which aims to investigate the contribution of different communities in the shaping of modern European culture and society in order to achieve a culture without discrimination on the continent we share today. The programme presents international experiences and proposals on urban strategies for intercultural dialogue between local authorities, the media, public bodies and civil society with a focus on participatory governance, correct information and mediation.

As part of this programme, Ambassador Akbar Ahmed has accepted our invitation to visit Athens to give a lecture and take part in a series of discussions on the wider theme of intercultural dialogue between Islam and Europe and the fostering of peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding between different communities in the cities we inhabit.

The lecture will be in English with simultaneous interpretation into Greek and admission is free (with admission tickets).
