The 18th Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival is taking place from 4 to 10 June 2018 at Technopolis – City of Athens and with seven music-filled days promises to be a magical jazz experience. The festival programme features a total of 21 musical ensembles, including the very first participation from the USA, giving the festival a more international feel.
Binker and Moses
Binker and Moses – one of the best up-and-coming bands in the UK – will take to the stage on Sunday 10 June at 23.00 for a performance to remember.
Binker and Moses are one of the most dynamic and creative ensembles of the new generation on the modern British jazz scene. Influenced by the richness of 60s jazz, hard bop and free jazz, saxophonist Binker Golding and drummer Moses Boyd create their own aesthetics in today’s plethora of different musical sounds, with a saxophone that is reminiscent of the historic sound of John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins, and a drum set that travels beyond time. With two critically acclaimed albums already out (Dem Ones and Journey to the Mountain of Forever) and a third (Children of the Ultra Blacks) in production, Binker and Moses’ music is the best example of the creativity and artistic level of contemporary British jazz.
During the seven days of the 18th Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival we will have the opportunity to experience the ‘jazzy’ side of Technopolis to the full as a series of wrap-around events – including exhibitions and surprise happenings – will take place in parallel with the festival.
The full programme is available on the Athens Jazz website.
Admission is free.
